These days have been extremely busy - thus the lack of posts.
But ... there's no lack of encouragement. We keep hearing from at least one of the couple that looked at this place last weekend. They really want to move out here and take over operations. They're hoping to hear from Farm Credit by Monday or so to find out if they will get the financing to make this purchase.
We're waiting - and occupying while we wait. Being well into the start of Farmer's Market season, we're kept quite busy preparing and going to markets on Thursday's and Friday's. This is a side income for us really, but good opportunity for our young men to learn sales skills and for us to pre-sell our pasture-raised poultry ...hopefully making it easier to wrap up that operation before we make our move.

Homeschool Helps
For those of you that are interested in Home Education, you may want to check out this site: http://www.HomeschoolFreebieOfTheDay.com
How It Works
Welcome to the "Homeschool Freebie of the Day" site! We're glad you
found us… you're gonna LOVE what we've got here for you!
Here's the deal:
Every weekday, Monday through Friday, we'll post a new homeschooling
"freebie" to this site. What kind of "freebies"? Stuff like: Unit
Studies… Ebooks… Audio Programs… Games… Samples… Lesson Plans… classic
books… and other quality resources! This is the REAL THING.
Many of these will be products that you would normally pay for on
their regular websites… but here on the Homeschool Freebie of the Day
site, they're 100% free… at least for that one day! Just download your
copy and enjoy! It's as simple as that!
FAQ:
How often do you put up new freebies? We post a new freebie each
weekday, Monday through Friday. Our Friday freebie will be available
all weekend long. So there will be five new freebies each and every week.
Is this legal? Absolutely. We only post freebies with the cooperation
and approval of the original publisher.
Any "strings" attached? All the freebies we bring you here are
downloadable, and 100% free. There is no service charge or any other
cost involved. Most of the freebies will have links to the direct
download page, so you don't even have to give your name or email
address at all. However, some of the resources that come from other
publishers may occasionally require you to sign up for their mailing
list. If that doesn't suit you, just skip that day's freebie, or
consider signing up and then later unsubscribe yourself if you don't
like that publisher's list. Can I pass along your freebies to my
friends? No. Sorry, but the freebies you receive from our site are
meant for your personal use only. You do not have any rights or
license to re-distribute them in any manner. If you want to share
freebies with a friend, just tell them to visit our website and grab a
copy for themselves.
How long will each freebie be available? Each freebie is available
only for ONE DAY. If you miss it, we're sorry, but that's the way it goes.
How do I keep from missing anything? We'd suggest three ways to stay
on top of this: 1) you could join our "Homeschool Freebie Alert" email
list and get our Monday "sneak peek" email that lets you know what
resources will be available for the upcoming week, or 2) subscribe to
our RSS feed for updates each time a new post is made, or 3) just make
it a point to drop by each day to see what new FREE goodies we have
for you.
When does the "freebie of the day" get taken down? When a new freebie
is posted, usually late at night or early the next morning, whenever
we get to it. At that point, the link to our previous day's freebie
will no longer be available. If we get enough requests, we may "rerun"
a particular freebie in the future, but for the time being, that
freebie will not be available. Sorry, but that's the way the site works.
What else will be posted on this site? We'll also be working to
arrange some very special discount deals with other homeschool
publishers and from time to time, we'll post those here for you too.
Many of these will also be limited time only offers, so pay attention
or you may kick yourself later!
Any other questions? Click here to email us!
Check back daily and start building your resource library of great
homeschool freebies with us! And tell a friend — they'll most
definitely thank you for it!

Interest In Farming
Two showings this weekend and now two couples expressing genuine interest in farming - buying this farm from us.
Who will get the money first?
Patience is working perfection. We're not worried or discouraged, just letting God work things through in His time - He always has perfect timing.

Show ... & Sale?
The show happened today as scheduled. The couple that came would wish to take over the whole operation ... just the way we'd like to make a sale.
They'll try to get the money.
We'll wait and see.
May God's will be done to His glory!
They'll try to get the money.

Shine & Show
We got a call late this afternoon. A heads up that there will be a showing of our place tomorrow afternoon.
So we're putting a shine on this place this evening ... and baking up a storm for tomorrow's Farmer's Market. Our cherry baking is a real hit with many of the people that come by to pick up their baking.
Too bad we're almost out of the cherries from last season... we're looking forward to another harvest. At least, I'm hoping we'll get some of them?! Depends on possession date at this end, I guess.
We have enjoyed these cherries so much, I will almost be a hardship to do without. Rest assured we'll be planting an orchard at the new place also - how many trees? Not sure yet, but it could be an income wherever we are for years to come - not to mention a nice addition to the family meals. (smile)
Today, when both Ken & I needed & asked God to bolster our faith, reassure us that this was indeed His plan for us to make a move and not just our own desires driving us forward ... God books an appointment with another potential buyer.
Thank you, Lord!

Letting Patience Work Perfection
The extension on our offer to the sellers in MB was signed and delivered today. The new deadline is June 19th.
We met with the MB sellers in Saskatoon as they were on their way through to their place in AB.
We were able to resolve a couple issues to mutual agreement. We are pleased with the results of that meeting, believing that we will not have as much pressure and premature commitments to this deal before we have wrapped things up at this end.
So, we continue to wait on the LORD, seeking further definitive direction from Him.
Yesterday evening through family devotions, Isaiah 42:16 spoke to our hearts:
"And I will bring the blind in the way that they knew not;
I will lead them in paths that they have not known:
I will make darkness light before them,
And crooked things straight.
These things I will do unto them, and not forsake them."
Another verse that repeatedly speaks peace to our hearts (I know I've quoted verse here before, note the emphasis) is James 1:3-4,
" Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work,
that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing."

A Bit More Action ...
One of the interested parties from yesterday has been asking further questions regarding the business component of our real estate listing - via email & through our realtor.
We've done our best to write it all out as they requested - there's so much to "say", it would be easier in person ... but, perhaps they're from out-of-province??!!

Perfect Peace
There's a song to this verse:
Isaiah 40:31
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary;
they shall walk, and not faint."
Teach me LORD,
Teach me LORD to wait.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The song for another verse is still in our minds and on our lips since we taught it to the children a few days ago:
Isaiah 35:10
"And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."
Here are the words to that song:
Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return,
And come a singing unto Zion,
And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.(2x)
They shall obtain gladness and joy,
And sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return,
And come a singing unto Zion,
And everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
And yet another verse in song, Isaiah 26:3, has been bringing perfect peace to my heart and mind today:
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on Thee, O LORD.(2x)
Because he trusteth in Thee, O LORD.
Because he trusteth in Thee.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
Because he trusteth in Thee.
As I'm writing this I'm noting that all three of these verses have been part of our family devotions during these faith-building days of our Journey to the Future ... God has gone before us.

Faith Grows Daily
I saw this phrase, "Faith Grows Daily", etched onto a rock ornament at the $$ store. One of the little encouragements today.
It spoke to my heart. I think it perfectly describes our "Journey to the Future. I should have bought the rock ... but it wasn't real. It was a plastic fake. I prefer real - maybe I can make a real one as a reminder of these days.
This morning we did not wake up to some amazing miracle, but that's ok.
We have peace.
We have God.
He goes before us and knows the beginning from the end. We'll trust in Him.
First thing this morning on my walk, I communed with God.
He heard & answered as I entered the the door. Ken was already on the phone speaking with their realtor, who had just received our message from Thursday and was "finally" returning our call (Ken tried to reach him all afternoon by phone and also by email).
In a way, it was good that he was out yesterday and therefore could not speak with Ken until after the deadline, 12:00 midnight of May 15th was past. Our faith sustained us through that time ... and God showed His faithfulness by again meeting us in our weakness and bolstering our faith through numerous encouragements that final day.
Remember how we were feeling pushed to make premature decisions by those in MB.? Well, we have no regrets for any decisions made and continue to trust & wait on the Lord.
The biggest little question in our minds (and yours too? smile - I knew it) ...
What now?
One of the options suggested to us by our realtor was to request an extension on the offer.
We were unsure still, where to go from here, when the MB realtor called this morning. Of course, one cry of my heart this morning was for wisdom knowing God would provide that as needed:
James 1:
5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, Who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith ..."
I did that. It was encouraging to know that God would answer. I could tell that my/our faith has strengthened with exercise. Please understand, it's not that we did not have faith earlier, but now it is stronger - and that? Is a good thing!!
And then ... God's answer was in process as I finished my walk and my prayer. Isn't God good?
How did He answer?
- The call from the realtor first thing this morning.
- Then the content of that call - he suggested the agreement extension - Ken did not even ask.
Evidently they have been showing the place, but no one has even offered except us. They really want to sell - just like we thought, they're torn between two farms in two different provinces. Exactly the situation we'd find ourselves in if we would follow their advice & even their generous offer to carry the financing ...
Ah, thanks, but NO THANKS!
Bridge financing may have it's place once there is an solid offer/subsequent commitment to cross over the financing for a few numbered days ... not sure on all that yet ... haven't had to go there yet. Pray that we don't need to - best case scenario.
Pray for us as we still need to fend off the anxious seller - he's wanting us to put in the crop (at least pay the expenses/he'd do the work). He wants us to buy cattle and farm equipment/supplies already; plant the garden, etc.
BUT ... what if someone else wants it and comes up with the money first? In which case, God would evidently not want us there after all.
It would be a tangled mess. No, to bridge financing. No to owner financing. We will wait on the LORD. Thank you!
We still feel it is too premature & thus it adds a bit of stress to the relationship. He is convinced we're the ones for his farm & so are we, but we ... are waiting for God's timing in this. We simply cannot put the family, our business into a situation like we see he is in(isn't it great of God to open our eyes to such a poignant example as He gives us the wisdom with which to consider our own decision).
So, yes, we have extended the offer for another four weeks. We will continue to seek the LORD daily for His encouragement. And ... our faith will continue to grow daily. This is exciting - growing a faith, I mean. Try it sometime, you won't be disappointed.
Now, just in case you've wondered whether we've been very disappointed and discouraged today, we were not. We were just very busy - another good thing, divinely ordained, I'd say, to keep us from falling to that exact temptation.
Not disappointed? Well, truthfully ... just a little. It was, after all, the death of a vision for us.
But God gave it back when the realtor offered the extension.
Thank you to those of you who prayed on our behalf- see how God answered?
Later in the day, it was encouraging to hear from the seller himself when he called that he really thinks we will make a good fit for his farm ... he wants to sell it to us. Well, yes that is evident because he's trying to sell and needs out of his difficulty, but we feel that he is sincere in this sentiment about us being a good fit for his farm - and we agree (we wouldn't have offered on the place if we didn't think so).
And we still believe that God has His hand in this as well.
I guess it all boils down to patience, that elusive quality that most of us would rather do without:
James 1:4 "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
Note that both the verses quoted today are from the chapter we're memorizing ... God is melding it into our hearts.
Please continue to watch and pray with us.

Surprise Me!
It's near the end of May 15th. We already had some encouragements today, but a significant encouragement came late in the day ... well actually, it started yesterday already when Ken's folks emailed us a copy of the Daily Bread Devotional for today - Do you ever take sneak peaks? Well they did, thought of us and sent it along via email yesterday already.
As you know already, I was rather busy yesterday and only took a cursory glance at their email, but Ken has taken time to read it. So, today, when my folks stopped by for a quick visit (we love those and will seriously MISS those) with the express purpose of encouraging us with the same thing, today's devotional entitled "Surprise Me!" Ken knew right away what they were talking about and showed it to me here at the computer after putting the children to bed.
Here it is: (thanks Dad K. for copying it out - copy paste is some much easier for me then)

Surprise Me!
READ: Ephesians 3:14-21
“My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. —Isaiah 55:8
When our family went out for an ice cream cone, my dad would ask my mother what flavor she’d like. Often she would reply, “Surprise me!” She told me she was rarely disappointed in his choice.
Do you like surprises? Would you ever dare say, “Surprise me!” to God? A lot of us are a little scared to do that. Yes, we have faith that God is good and that He loves us. Yet we’re afraid we won’t like what He chooses for us.
Throughout the Bible we read that God delights in doing the unexpected. Sometimes it’s folding back the waters for His people to cross a sea on dry ground (Ex. 14:21-22). Or forgiving and embracing those who repent of their sin (Ps. 130:1-4). Jesus’ time on earth was filled with amazing events that pointed people to His Father—He turned water into wine, calmed storms, healed the sick, and raised the dead.
What kind of God do we serve? One who is not confined by our finite imagination (Eph. 3:20). God’s thoughts and ways are not like ours (Isa. 55:8), and He wants to bless us with far more than a special flavor of ice cream. He delights in His children who trust Him and are willing to say, “Surprise me, Lord!”
O Lord, give me the grace to be
Content with what You give to me.
No! More than that, let me rejoice
In all You send me—it’s Your choice! —Anon.
Those who let God provide will always be satisfied.
Coming from both our parents doubles the encouragement ... (I think I'll label it a "2 for 1" Deal, how's that? smile)

(I think I'll label it a "2 for 1" Deal, how's that? smile)
The Battle's Over
Pressure from MB, sellers wanting to KNOW. NOW. Asking us to get bridge financing in place ... etc.
Suffice to say, the battle intensified. The conflict returned. Not a good place to be. Each of us struggling with our own faith, conflicting emotions etc. Then at odds with each other...it has not been easy. Spiritual conflict.
Finally, each of us came into peace. The battle is over.
We've given the MB place back to God.
If He gives it back to us, it is ours... If not? It never was.
And we're at peace, in agreement. It's all is God's hands again.
When/Why did we take it back? We had placed it there once already when we signed the 48 hour clause which allowed us to come up with the money within 48 hours if they got another offer from someone else.
We had decide almost two weeks ago already that the interim/bridge financing was not for us. Now, one deciding factor was the realization that we'd be in the same fix(stressful situation) that the MB seller finds himself in right now. We'd be between a rock and a hard place - don't want to go there!
We would have bridge financing and own the two farms at once - one with cattle(MB), the other with chickens(SK) ... except we would also be putting our children and business at risk. We'd be spreading ourselves too thin; likely separated geographically, putting in unnecessary time & money trying to make this work - with human reasoning ... Where is the wisdom in that?
No, God would have us be at peace. Content & trusting in Him.
If He wants us in MB, we'll get there - in His time. If not, He has something better for us or He is protecting us from something unknown to us ... we stand on the FACT that we CAN trust God to know BEST - and that He wants the BEST for us.
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
AMEN
AND ... May 15, 2008 is not yet over ... remember in Isaiah 37 the Israelites awoke early expecting to fight a battle that God had won for them in the night. While they rested, God worked His miracle.

Wondering Wednesday
We had an incredibly busy day today. A good thing! - to keep our wondering minds otherwise occupied and not yielding to the tendency to worry & fret.
Encouragements were numerous today. Though no real estate moved, the encouragements brought peace to our hearts:
1 - First thing in the morning, reading the Proverb for the day, chapter 14, I noted with interest the assurance in verse 26, "In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge."
What a great way to start the day. I went on that all day.
The rest of these are extras (notice how God supplies all we need?):
2 - A friend pointed out my all time favorite verse.
Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."
Again, why have I not applied this verse to our Journey to the Future?
Ok, we kind of did, we basically live by that premise. We've discussed that God has all things worked out for us and His plan is the best ... we only want what He wants. We only want to be where He wants us to be - do you recall reading that in my past posts?
3 - Ken pondered the situation as he tilled the orchard this afternoon. With a sudden clarity, he realized that God had certainly unexpectedly and quickly "sold" the MB place to us - the realtor had not even listed the place yet, he had only put up his sign ... when we drove on, much to the surprise of the owner and as easy as that, his place was "sold" ... God can do that for Him? He can do the same for us!
4 - "Peace, be still" - Note the comment here.
Because of our month of faith-building now though, the owner & his realtor are getting rather anxious, justifably so ... shall we not answer?
... like the Israelites did not answer in Isaiah 36:21 "And they held their peace and answered him not a word...".
According to the signed agreement, we have until mid-night, May 15th to fulfill the requirements: unconditional sale of this place.
Our family devotions for Wednesday was then the next chapter, Isaiah 37:36 where we read about the ensuing battle that Israel faced with the Assyrians who were camped against them, surrounding them - but the Israelites rested. In the morning, they found all the enemy dead - the angel of the LORD smote them in the night. Now THAT is amazing - who would have thought?
God can do anything! He can make provision for filling the requirements for us also.
HOW will He do it? In less than 24 hours we will know ... stay tuned.
To GOD be the glory both now and forever!

Precious is the Word of the LORD
I've been tempted to disregard the significance of the Word of the Lord some of these many times throughout this last month. But in reading a print newsletter that came in the mail, I was admonished not to give in to that - God's Word is THE most important, THE most encouraging Word possible.
Not every Scripture I've read or heard has spoken directly to our situation at this time, but so many have. Oftentimes meeting us in our need through our personal devotions, our family devotions or comments from friends.
We have not searched the Scriptures for verses to encourage us. Though there have been a couple of times that I attempted to seek a word from the Lord I didn't know where to start and came away with no encouraging thought to apply. Instead, I resolved again to wait upon the LORD for what He would reveal in His time - AND He has faithfully given encouragement EACH day, when and as needed! Isn't that amazing?
That observation alone is encouraging.

The Still Small Voice
Today, Tuesday, May 13th was a busy day in Saskatoon, with errands and egg marketing filling the morning and a FoodSafe class from 1:00-5:00PM which Corbyn & I are taking today & tomorrow again. (a requirement for Farmer's Market)
Being busy is a good thing in these "waiting days".
As day turned to evening, I pondered what God's encouragement was for today. As far as I knew there was no word yet.
...BUT, I heard His still small voice once again during evening devotions as we read Isaiah 36. The enemy, the king of Assyria, was trying to deceive the people, warning them against following their King Hezekiah who has told his people to "Trust in the Lord".
Here are the verses, read them with me. What do you think?:
"13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: the city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;...
21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not."
The voice of the enemy is blaring. By contrast the voice of the LORD is a still small voice. It has been/and is a great exercise to listen daily for His "still small voice".
Please pray for us as the battle intensifies ... we want to be faithful. We want to be where God wants us!
THY will be done, O LORD! THY will be done!

The Word
Monday the LORD sent His Word yet again through the thoughts of a friend:
Matthew 15:28
Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish."
This friend went on to affirm that the outcome will be that "your property sold".
I needed extra yesterday. God knew that I was struggling and sent what I needed.
The encouraging thought was "...in His time."
Thank you Lord, for meeting my need, for bolstering my faith, & for faith-filled friends ...

Daily Dose
James 1 has been our daily dose of encouragement in addition to all the other encouragements we've received in the past month.
This is what God commends in James 1:3-8:
"3 Knowing this that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."
Back in August 2007 we began a new "program" of Bible Memory. It is really very simple ... and very powerful - we encourage anyone to give it a try and see for yourself.
The Bible memory program uses only the Bible as a resource - so you needn't spend any extra money. All you do is choose a larger portion of Scripture - we started with Romans 6 - just follow the Lord's leading on choosing a portion.
Then read it out-loud once daily - we read it out-loud together as a family.
Sometime around the third month (for us older folks anyway) perhaps you may begin to recite portions from memory. In approximately 4 months you will have the entire portion committed to memory. Keep with the same portion until it is in your mind and in your heart, until you can recite it "in your sleep".
It only takes about three minutes of your day. We do this first thing when we join together for Family Worship. As we get to know it more,we take turns reciting for memory ... (this Mom & Dad usually need to read it over twice a day - at least some of the days, smile).
This benefits the family as a whole. It is how our three year old twins were able to recite most of Romans 6 and then just before they turned four they were also able to recite Psalm 23. The Psalm is their favorite - they often use it as the Scripture reading when they are playing church.
More than the ability to recite for memory is the life-long impact we know this will have in our hearts and minds - Isaiah 55:11 "So shall My Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: It shall not return unto Me void, but It shall accomplish that which I please, and It shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent It."
This is what God commends in James 1:3-8:

A Need to Review
God's Word has been a regular strength and encouragement through out this faith-building experience. Today when I needed added strength it has been good to review His specific messages to us:
Proverbs 16:33 "The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD."
Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."
II Chronicles 20:
"3 ... And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast ...
4 ... And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: ... to seek the LORD ...
12 ... neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
13 ... And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives and their children ...
15 ... Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason ... for the battle is not yours, but God's ...
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, ... : fear not, nor be dismayed; ... for the LORD will be with you.
18 ... and the inhabitants ... fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD ...
20 And they rose early in the morning and went forth ...Believe on the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
21 ... Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever."
Hebrews 11:6"But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."

Sunday - First Day of the Countdown Week
My morning started with prayer to God for continued encouragement. It didn't need to be anything regarding real estate as we do not "do business" on Sunday's, but I needed something again to strengthen my weakness - temptation to doubt ...
At our noon meal. Ken mentioned that he had spoken with a neighbor who has also considered selling his place. In his (the neighbor's) conversations with others, he had been quoted a price just a little higher than what we're asking - and aside from his house being newer, our places are quite similar.
So, anyway, all that to share with you that once again we have received affirmation regarding the price we listed for.
Everything is in God's hands ... as the day approaches anticipation builds, doubts tend to come more often, and we seek the Lord more earnestly than ever.
God is able to do "... exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think..."Ephesians 3:20
How will He provide? The thought crossed my mind that He is not limited to the sale of this place - though we think that is the only way this deal could work.
Please, pray for us this week as we "see the day approaching". May 15th will be a significant day.

Saturday's Word
The Word of the Lord was again our encouragement as I read it on another blog that I've been following. Psalm 27:14 was the encouragement the Maxwell's received as they await the birth of their baby, but it also spoke encouragement to my heart regarding our Journey to the Future:
"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."
Again, I am reminded that God's Word is the Living Word - speaking encouragement into every situation.
I thought it interesting that I only applied this verse to our situation after reading the other post a second time, (to Ken after he returned home from the Farmer's Market), but I don't know that there is any significance to the timing of my application.
"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD."

Cry of My Heart
This morning, on my prayer walk, I was cold and tempted to be discouraged about the idea of selling. I prayed, asking God to bring encouragement soon in the day - well I didn't really put it into those words, but that was the cry of my heart ...
And God heard!
I am reminded of these verses in Romans 8:
"26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to His purpose."
The walk was invigorating, cold as it was. Soon, after starting the work of my day, I received a welcome phone call from a friend, encouraging as always. She stated emphatically that she too firmly believes that God has that MB place in His plan for us. Basing her convictions on the many miracles that God has already wrought throughout our Journey to the Future.
She called it a faith-builder! How appropriate!
Later, our family discussed her encouragement around the lunch table, my heart was truly blessed as we discussed the the fact that God is testing our faith - like He did with Abraham when He asked Abraham to put his son Issac on the altar. God stopped Abraham at the last possible moment, providing a substitute sacrifice with which Abraham could worship his Lord.
Abraham was found faithful to the last. Will we? Will you be found faithful in your journey?
So, at lunch, after sharing with my family the encouraging conviction that my friend had shared with me, I suggested that this may well be the encouragement for today.
Then just after lunch as I read emails, I was encouraged again - by another friend who shared another Scripture verse with me that had reminded her of us:
Ephesians 1:13-14 NKJV:
"After you believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession."
"Purchased possession", caught her eye, she said. Following that with an admonishment to "Keep on trusting!"
God knew my need for a good supply of encouragement this morning. By 1:00 PM, He had already sent His encouragement through two of His servants. Not only once, but twice and early in the day as opposed to later (like during evening devotions like has happened more than once also). He knew my weakness needed bolstering. He heard the cry of my heart and was already working in the hearts and minds of friends who would later be found faithful to communicate their thoughts to me.
Thanks friends! God Bless YOU!
Do you always put encouragement into words? I know I haven't always. How many times do we fail to communicate the encouragement God gives us to those around us? May I encourage us to be sensitive to the Spirit, that we can be used of God to strengthen the saints.
And God heard!

Behind the Scene
No word yet on a sale of this farm.
But God has spoken through yet another person. My mother affirmed that He often does wait until the last to "make His move" - it confirms to us what we've believed all along, that He is testing our faith.
It makes sense to test faith when it's toughest to believe ... God is testing our mettle. What are we made of? How strong is our faith?
The confidence with which we all believe that God would have us make this move is nothing short of amazing. Even in the face of all odds.
God showed us from the beginning more than we could ask of think. He has faithfully been answering my prayer for encouragement for each day.
With one week left, we wait expectantly to see Him work this all out.

Scripture Says:
God used Isaiah 31:1 to speak assurance to us this evening again during Family devotions,
"Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord."
It is our desire to look unto the Holy One and seek the Lord. We are putting our trust in Him not in horses, nor chariots, neither horsemen ...
May God be glorified now and forever!

New Record Sales
Wednesday is market day. Today we brought in the most eggs ever - 31 cases...and one restaurant asked for an extra case, but I didn't have extras with me. In addition to that, two of our locations did not need this week.
...AND tomorrow is the start of the Farmer's Market season. The last three days of each week will be busy with that now I guess.
Summer is opportunity time on this farm. "Gotta make hay while the sun shines," as they say.

Tuesday's Encouragement
Ken spoke with our neighbor/colleague Tuesday on the phone (on Monday, I spoke with him briefly because Ken was putting the twins down for their nap). Telephone tag caught up and Ken was able to connect with this neighbor. The outcome of that conversation was that we have a likely sale of the egg business to that person should our farm sell without the business.
In addition to that, the other lead we had to sell the business showed up at our place to "see" the business. They will think and pray about the possibility.
That's fine with us. Commendable in fact. Until we know if the property has sold we cannot sell the business anyway. Both parties know and understand.
Yet another encouragement came through the reading of God's Word in our daily family devotions. It was interesting to me that one of my favorite verses spoke encouragement to our hearts yesterday evening. Being one of my favorites (that we even have prominently displayed on our wall) - why had I not remembered and applied that verse to our "Journey to the Future"?
Isaiah 30:15 was part of the chapter that we read and discussed. We needn't be anxious nor striving to make this deal work ... God can make it happen.
GOD spoke encouragement to us.

Pre-school Number Recognition
At four, our twins are counting to twenty, but recognizing the numbers is another matter altogether. So I found it rather interesting when Bronlin started naming the numbers as the red second hand on our kitchen clock ticked past each number.
After counting around the clock three times he quite confidently knew what the numbers were. Brother Benjamin followed suit ... simple as that, now I think they've "got it"... when they count them in order.
We'll just be sure to repeat that little exercise regularly for a bit and that will be that. Repetition will help them identify each number out of sequence also.
I wonder, somehow counting on the clock will make their learning of time that much easier too ...
Next will be writing the numbers and then writing numbers associated with objects. Sometimes their ease of learning just simply amazes me!
Whoever said homeschooling is hard? It's not.
AND where we, as parents, fail or lack - God fills the gaps.
Of course, it is still our responsibility to live righteously before God.
How is this a "2 for 1"? Learning number recognition + time.

Encouragement Monday
Monday, May 5th, I was encouraged by a friend - to continue having faith right to the last day, May 15th, as necessary.
A talk with our realtor disclosed the information that the interested party from Friday is still contemplating our place - she looked at three properties, one was a better location, but ours was all set up and ready to go with her plans/agenda. She has financing in place, investors that need to give their counsel on the deal...we'll keep you posted.
A neighbor/colleague called to be "neighborly" and in the process shared encouraging comments ... "Your place will sell, no problem, in this market!"

Farm Projects
Last week, our guys completed a little project they needed to accomplish - making chick feeders:
They made seven of these totally from materials gleaned from the rubbage bins.
Then they started making the portable chicken cages to house the broiler chicks once they turn 3 weeks old:
One cage was built last year. One new portable cage is completed - five more to go ...

Weekend Encouragements
OK, for those of you who are regular readers and wondered where the update posts have been staying - I'm sure by now you've realized that we've had a very busy week and weekend around here.
Last Tuesday, we were privilged to have Ken's folks come over with their camper to stay with us. They're family, it's not really like having company - it's better! We love having them, working with them and visiting between times - letting them discover the life we live.
Wednesday, Mom came with me on my weekly market run - and saw for herself the vibrant egg market we serve. Dad & Mom's help with processing the eggs has gotten us all caught up - what a good feeling! Travelling to MB and working on buying and selling another place, we'd gotten a little behind cause we've been putting time in doing extras...
Thursday, we got our 2008 batch of broiler chicks.
Friday, our encouragement was showing this place though as yet we've had no word of further interest from that party.
Another encouragement on Friday came when I talked with an accquaintence from the past. Ken & I had just wondered whether their place had sold - and I found out from her that it had when I met her in an unlikely place. As soon as she found out that we were selling, she confidently stated, "Oh, you'll easily sell!" That little comment encouraged me - especially since we had just been wondering about them ...
We don't believe in coincidence - it's ALL God! He is Sovereign!
Next came an email on Saturday from a friend who had just read my blog. Her comment was encouragement from Scripture - in my books, God's Words hold the most weight, make the biggest impact:
"...for we walk by faith, not by sight-" 2Cor. 5:7.
Quick and powerful, easy to remember, and apply through-out the day ... Thanks for letting God use you to encourage me!
Today, Sunday, another day filled to the brim with immensely fun and encouraging things ... how did God encourage us regarding our Journey to the Future? He spoke to me through one of our guests - when she & I were briefly discussing our pending move and the need to sell this place within the next 10 days ... she commented with wisdom wrought from years of following the same Lord we serve, "God can even sell it on May 14th!"
That is exactly what our family has discussed about God putting our faith to the test...will we be found faithful right to the end? It gets harder with each passing day - what are we made of?

Spiritual Milestone
Today, May 4th, 2008 marked a major milestone in the spiritual life of our second born son, Carsyn: he was baptized upon confession of his faith in Jesus Christ.
It was a very special service. The pastor's message & his comments were so encouraging. We were blessed & proud of Carsyn's stand for his LORD.
When Carsyn commits to something he means it, having counted the cost before and considered it worthy. Carsyn, go with God & He will go before you!
We were blessed to have family and friends join us to witness this important occasion and invited those that had come to join us for a BBQ lunch and fellowship at our home. God blessed us with perfect weather. The food was fabulous and the fellowship so sweet...a true celebration. A memory to cherish.
Thanks to all who came and helped us make this a day to remember. Corbyn did an awesome job capturing memories on camera and manning the BBQ.
Here are a few pics of the day:

A Major Steppingstone ...
Graduation 2008: Our eldest son, Corbyn, had his high school graduation today. We celebrated by having a Graduation Banquet with the family and both sets of Grandparents. It was a nice meal together at a local resturant.
Afterwards, we went over to Grandma & Grandpa Wiebe's for a bit of a presentation and a delicious dessert Grandma had made.
Ken shared a verse with Corbyn, Jeremiah 29:11 "...for I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you ..."
Earlier I had stopped in at Scot's Parable , I noticed a package of grad napkins with exactly that verse on it - of course, I bought them and we used them with our dessert later at Grandma's.
HSLDA has a very attractive diploma that we had ordered and filled out to formalize the occasion. We, Corbyn's parents also presented him with a proof set of the 2008 coins made by the Royal Canadian Mint - so appropriate, I thought, because they commemorate the year always increasing in value.
It was cool to discover that CBD has Class of '08 T-shirts this year ~ so we got him one of those also. Guess which verse was on the shirt? Yup, Jeremiah 29:11 (and that was not planned, I'd long forgotten what all the writing was on the shirt).
And finally, but not least, just yesterday after months, even years of searching, I found a local artisan who will etch a graduation rock for me - it did not get done in time to present it at our little grad celebration, but I am thankful to have finally found someone that can do the etching professionally. We intend to have each "milestone" in the boys lives etched into rocks that they can take with them when they leave home.

New Life on the Farm
The first day of May was the first day of new life on the farm. We got our 2008 flock of broiler chicks, 1019 of them. More than we've ever had before.
Summer is a time of opportunity on the farm. Some ventures, like the broiler chicks and the cherry orchard, are seasonal. Having seasonal ventures gives a nice variance in the schedule. Something to look forward to come spring, then summer.
Variety is the spice of life, as they say.
These chicks are now one day old. They are so cute.
It is so great to report not even one fatality yet. The weather turned out great after waking yesterday to a cold wind and a dark sky. This is probably the best temperatures we've had on the day the chicks arrived ... last year we had a blizzard the day the chicks came. Keeping the temperature in their little tent at 90 degrees is easier when the weather is warmer, that is crucial for the little fledglings.
As you can see, we're carrying on as usual. The business continues even though we're contemplating the move to MB. We'll be filling all orders for our regular customers and hopefully, the plan is, presell the rest before butcher date so the deliveries can happen as quickly as possible thereafter so that we can wrap up that operation for this year before change of ownership.

May 1 Encouragement
Our realtor spoke with Ken and let him know that there is someone interested in seeing our place tomorrow. Yes, that's encouragement, though we realize this may not be our buyer.
We'll keep you posted...
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5,6
I was setting the table for lunch today when I showed Ken's Mother the new cup I'd bought for him at the Salvation Army store: it has that verse, Proverbs 3:5,6 printed on it ... and I got it for only $.49
The verse is, of course, very well known, but I had not applied it to our present situation until today. It seemed so applicable as I read it to Mother...
